Recently, a client in Williamsville requested a "unique rugged rock wall". Our craftsmen went a couple thousand feet into the earth to hand select limestone pieces for the custom wall. The garden was then accented by tailing rocks and a red maple.

New Nickname Established
I am proud to announce that after our newest craftsmen, Ryan Conners (pictured above), failed to be able to lift a small boulder into the trailer, he will forever be referred to as "Little Guy". Sorry, Little Guy. Attention clients: be sure to use the correct nicknames when talking to the crew!

Splitting hostas
As a green company, we always aim to eliminate waste and reuse as much plant life as possible. At recent project in the Village of East Aurora, we carefully split a bunch of hostas and included them in the plans for a completely new semi-shade garden.
Splitting your own hostas can be easy. The roots are tubular looking... spread out much like Asparagus roots. Because of this you may lose some soil so be prepared to add some extra topsoil. Most of the time, it is easier to move them when the soil is damp. Don't be too meticulous though - they are hardy plants!
I have posted 1 before picture and 2 after pictures (only because it is more fun to look at "after pics").

Beautification award!
My longtime friend Andy DeVincentis and I go together to beautify the corner of Elm and Oakwood in East Aurora. Andy owns and runs the ever-popular Red Caboose Ice Cream Shop. I decided to donate landscaping to Andy and the Village of East Aurora.
A couple weeks later, Mayor David DiPietro honored Andy and I with a Town Beautification Award!

Pictures: I am especially proud of the flagstone walkway. The large boulder came from my land in Wales.

Add cap to your retaining walls - create a finished look
Today we completed a sizable project in Lancaster. After five long days, the crew is enjoying a little break before we move onto the next project. One element of the project that caught my eye was how a cap on a retaining wall can really establish a finished look. I have included a few pictures below. Notice the perfectly cut bricks.. and tight corner work near the gutter spout. Great work once again, craftsmen!
